  • Opening Keynote: Jennifer Barthelemy-Nerestant 

    Secretariat Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access for the Executive Office of Health & Human Services, Commonwealth of Massachusetts; DEI Strategist & Change Agent  

    With unwavering dedication and a strategic approach grounded in intentionality and collaboration, Jennifer has spent over 18 years shaping the Commonwealth’s public service landscape. Her remarkable journey began in 2006 with the Department of Transitional Assistance and has now led her to her current position of Secretariat Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access for the Executive Office of Health & Human Services.   

     

    A proud graduate of Howard University, Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and has also distinguished herself as a double ram of Suffolk University, where she earned a certificate in Human Services & Leadership Management and a Master of Public Administration in 2021.  

     

    As a dynamic DEI Strategist and change agent, Jennifer champions the transformative process of personal and societal disruption of entrenched inequity, inequality, and injustice. Her leadership is a beacon of support and inspiration, particularly for Women of Color. Jennifer creates empowering environments of mutual learning and employs her exceptional coaching and mentoring skills to cultivate collaborative leadership and foster inclusive cultures.  

     

    Her achievements are a testament to her impact. She is the first Haitian American and second African American woman to receive the 2020 Commonwealth Suffolk Fellowship. In 2023, she was one of two honorees for the Advancing Equity and Justice Award from the Massachusetts LGBTQ Youth Commission, and in 2024, she received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School. 

     

    Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jennifer is a devoted wife and mother. Family is the cornerstone of her life and the driving force behind all she does. She envisions a world where every individual can show up as their authentic selves, and seen, heard, and valued for their unique, rich, and beautiful contributions.   

     

    Jennifer's legacy is one of transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to equity and justice. Her visionary approach, dedication to mentorship, and relentless pursuit of inclusive excellence have not only broken barriers but also created lasting change. Jennifer's impact reverberates through the lives she's touched, the communities she's empowered, and the path she's forged for future generations to lead with purpose and courage.
